Before the Summer Rush: Get Your Pet Sitting Bookings Organised

In Australia, Christmas and January mean summer care plans. Elsewhere, the peak might be school holidays or a different local season. The useful moment to organise your business is before the messages start arriving at once.

You may already have the clients. The problem is that one booking lives in WhatsApp, another in email, and a changed arrival date only exists in your head. This is a plan for reducing that admin without turning your independent business into a staffed operation.

Start with the clients you already have

Bring your clients. Gather the contact details and notes you already hold legitimately, remove duplicate entries and confirm what has changed. Do not assume that exporting contacts also moves their bookings, accounts or reviews.

On The Pet Sitter, Free includes a list for up to 10 clients and limited CSV import. Importing a row does not notify or enrol that person automatically. Invite them when you are ready, or share your booking link in your usual conversation.

Keep your conversations, organise the agreement

You can use WhatsApp, email, phone calls and other booking or payment arrangements. The Pet Sitter does not demand exclusivity or treat outside conversations as a policy violation. We provide software, not a commission marketplace that needs to keep every conversation inside it.

If you also use Rover, Pawshake or Mad Paws, their terms and any existing commitments remain separate considerations. They are not our rules. Check the terms relevant to the work you intend to move and the cover you need; do not assume that another service's booking protection transfers automatically.

A realistic pre-season checklist

  1. Check services and rates. Confirm your location-based currency, the major amount you intend to charge and your peak-season pricing.
  2. Check availability. Keep your date calendar current. Calendar subscription is an outward feed, not two-way conflict detection.
  3. Set payment instructions. Clients pay you directly using methods and provider accounts you control. The Pet Sitter does not collect or settle their payments; record receipt yourself.
  4. Share your permanent booking link. A client can sign in and request dates. For a linked client account, you can propose a booking for them to confirm. A chat agreement or imported contact is not already a confirmed system booking.
  5. Keep care information current. Check emergency contacts and instructions with the client. Report cards and browser-recorded GPS routes are available on Free for care updates; there is no live owner-tracking service.
  6. Decide whether Pro saves work. Pro adds manual and automatic invoicing, review import, reminders to the sitter, unlimited clients and a bookkeeper CSV. Check current prices and availability before planning an upgrade.

Your page and direct booking link work before you request a profile review. Approval and your search-engine visibility choice determine eligibility for indexing, not guaranteed new clients. Owner-side discovery is on the roadmap.

Keep the setup proportionate

You do not need a full website, staff or new communication habits to make the next booking clearer. You do need agreed service and cancellation terms, payment records and insurance suitable for the work.

The current product uses date-based bookings. Recurring timed visits, staff scheduling and facility tools are roadmap work, not part of the pre-season setup you can rely on today.

After the busy period, ask three questions: did bookings run smoothly, did you choose to use the software again, and would Pro remove work you still do by hand? That is a better test than savings arithmetic alone.
