What is Cat Sitting?

Cat sitting brings care to your cat's own home while you are away. Familiar surroundings and routines can suit cats who find travel or a new setting difficult. A cattery is another option when your home is unavailable or a different care routine suits your cat.

Your cat sitter visits or stays at your home, maintaining feeding schedules, cleaning litter boxes, providing fresh water, and giving your cat the attention and play time they need. For multi-cat households, this is especially practical — no need to transport multiple cats or pay per-cat kennel fees.

Sitters set their own rates. Confirm the total, currency and any agreed extras before booking, then pay the sitter directly. The Pet Sitter is free and takes no booking commission; an external payment provider may charge its own fees.

How Cat Sitting works

Step 1

Meet your cat sitter

Book a meet-and-greet at your home. Your sitter gets to know your cat, learns the routine, and gets comfortable with the space.

Step 2

Hand over the keys

Give your sitter the house keys and leave detailed care instructions — feeding times, medications, vet details, and your cat's favourite hiding spots.

Step 3

Relax while your cat is cared for

Receive daily photo updates. Come home to a happy, well-fed cat and a clean litter box.

Frequently asked questions

How much does cat sitting cost?

Clarify whether you need visits or an overnight stay, how many cats need care and the frequency of visits. Sitters set their own rates. Confirm the total, currency and any agreed extras before booking, then pay the sitter directly. The Pet Sitter is free and takes no booking commission; an external payment provider may charge its own fees.

Is it better to have a cat sitter or use a cattery?

Home visits can suit cats who prefer their familiar surroundings. A cattery may suit a cat who needs more frequent on-site attention or whose home cannot be used during the trip. Visit the provider, compare routines and discuss your cat's needs before choosing.

Can a cat sitter give my cat medication?

Yes! Many of our cat sitters are experienced with administering pills, liquid medications, eye drops, and even insulin injections. Check sitter profiles for medical care experience and discuss specifics during the meet-and-greet.

How often should the cat sitter visit?

For most healthy adult cats, one or two visits per day is sufficient. Kittens, senior cats, or cats with medical needs may need more frequent visits or an overnight house sitter.

What if my cat is shy or hides from strangers?

This is very common! A good cat sitter knows to give shy cats space, letting them approach on their own terms. The meet-and-greet helps your cat start getting comfortable before you leave. Most shy cats warm up within a day or two.

How do I find a cat sitter near me?

Public search for cat sitters is coming soon. Today, a sitter can share their profile or booking link with you; use it to review their rates, reviews, and experience, message them directly, and arrange a meet-and-greet at your home before booking.

What does cat care at home include?

Cat care at home includes feeding, fresh water, litter cleaning, play and any agreed medication. Your cat stays in familiar surroundings, and the sitter can send photo updates. Agree the visit frequency and any extra care in advance.
