Everything you need to know about managing your account, profile, and settings on The Pet Sitter.

Account Setup

Visit our signup page and create an account using your email address or sign in with Google. Account creation takes less than a minute. Once registered, you can set up a pet owner profile, apply to become a sitter, or both. Email verification is required to activate your account and start using the platform.

Yes. After creating your account, we send a verification email to the address you registered with. Click the link in the email to verify your account. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folder or request a new verification email from the login page. Email verification helps us ensure account security and prevent spam.

Yes. The Pet Sitter supports dual roles. You can have both an owner and a sitter profile on the same account. Use the role switcher in the navigation bar to toggle between your owner and sitter dashboards. This is perfect for pet lovers who both need care for their own pets and want to offer sitting services to others.

Profile & Settings

Log in and navigate to your dashboard. For sitters, click your profile or go to profile settings to update your bio, services, rates, photos, and availability. Changes to your profile are reviewed to ensure quality standards are maintained. For owners, you can update your personal details and pet profiles from the owner dashboard.

Navigate to your account settings from the dashboard. You can update your name, email address, phone number, and other contact details. If you change your email address, you will need to verify the new address before it becomes active. Changes to your phone number may require additional verification for security.

Go to your account settings and find the notifications section. You can control which notifications you receive by email, including booking requests, messages, review reminders, and platform updates. We recommend keeping booking and message notifications enabled so you do not miss time-sensitive communications from pet owners or sitters.

The Pet Sitter is available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Dutch. You can change the language by selecting your preferred language from the language selector in the website header. Your language preference is remembered across sessions. All core content including help articles, interface text, and email communications are available in all five languages.

Security & Privacy

The Pet Sitter uses passwordless authentication for security and convenience. You can sign in with your Google account or request a magic link sent to your email address. Click the link in the email and you will be signed in instantly — no password to remember or reset. If you do not receive the magic link email, check your spam folder or try again after a few minutes.

We take data protection seriously. Your personal information is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising. We collect only the information necessary to provide our service. You can review our full privacy policy for detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your data. We comply with applicable data protection regulations in all markets where we operate.

If you wish to delete your account, contact our support team at [email protected]. We will process your request and permanently remove your account and associated data. Please note that account deletion is irreversible — all your profile information, booking history, reviews, and messages will be permanently deleted. If you have active bookings, please complete or cancel them before requesting deletion.
