How does The Pet Sitter's pricing model work?

The Pet Sitter is free for sitters and pet owners. Bookings, clients, invoices, accounting exports, calendars and report cards are included, with no subscription, paid tiers, booking commission or card requirement. Owners pay sitters directly for pet care; external payment-provider fees may apply. Team and facility features are planned, and owner-side discovery is not available yet.

How do I get paid by pet owners?

Choose your methods and instructions in Profile → Payment methods: cash, bank transfers, your own Stripe or PayPal links and supported local options, such as Bancontact in Belgium. The editor shows country and account requirements. Selecting a method does not open a provider account or start automatic collection. The public profile shows method names; details appear after booking confirmation. Clients pay you directly and you manually mark payment received. Provider fees and eligibility remain between you and that provider.

Do I need to declare my pet sitting income for tax purposes?

Yes. Pet sitting income is generally taxable in most jurisdictions. We recommend keeping accurate records of your earnings and expenses, and consulting a tax professional or your local tax authority for guidance specific to your situation. The Pet Sitter does not provide tax advice, but our earnings tracking tools and invoicing help you maintain clear financial records.

Can I generate invoices through The Pet Sitter?

Invoice tools are included for all sitters. You can create manual invoices for client records, including work arranged elsewhere, and completed bookings can generate invoices automatically when automatic invoicing is enabled. Complete the appropriate business and tax details before issuing invoices. An invoice records the amount billed and the payment status you entered; it is not independent proof that money arrived.

To create a manual invoice:

  1. Open Clients, add a client record if needed, and choose its invoice action.
  2. Enter the description, quantity and unit price for each item. Check the client details, your service currency and applicable business details before creating the invoice.
  3. Select the paid option only if you have already received the money. Creating an invoice does not charge the client.
  4. Read the confirmation to see whether an email was sent. Open the printable invoice to print or save it as a PDF through your browser.

Find your invoices under Earnings. Check whether a completed booking already has an automatic invoice before creating another. For an unpaid invoice, use Mark paid only after checking receipt yourself.

Can I export records for my accountant?

You can export client and earnings data and a bookkeeper CSV of issued invoices with recorded tax breakdowns, grouped by currency. These are file exports; live Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB connections are planned. These tools do not file tax returns or transmit Peppol invoices.

In Earnings, open Accounting export, choose the start and end dates, then select Download CSV. The range uses invoice issue dates and UTC day boundaries. If it is too large, use smaller consecutive ranges; oversized exports are refused, not silently shortened.

Keep this separate from the earnings CSV, which describes bookings and recorded payment movements. The invoice export uses the details saved at issue, does not convert currencies into one total, and does not prove payment. The month-end checklist explains how to check the files before sharing them.
